• You hear a sharp crack when the gate opens or closes. That’s a crack opening and closing under load. At first it’s just a noise; within a few months it’s a complete separation and the gate hangs or jams.
• The gate needs a push to get started. The operator’s working but the bracket flex is absorbing its first stroke, so the movement lags. The force goes into bending steel instead of moving the gate, and the electrical amp draw climbs, shortening the motor’s life.
• Rust staining streaks from a weld or bracket. Coastal League City air eats through protective coatings fast. If the steel behind the paint is going brown and flaking, the cross-section is thinning and a failure is coming sooner than most owners think.
